Helvetica World, Competition and Event for Designers

On May 9, 1957, Max Midinger gave the world the font Helvetica, which is still popular and is not going to give up its position, neither among consumers nor designers. Someone loves Helvetica, someone hates her, and this year we, with the support of TypeDNA (Sweden), High-Logic (USA) as well as Freelansim and Huntim (Russia), are organizing an event on an annual basis called “Helvetica World” .

We invite designers to participate in an online contest, the prizes of which will be: Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch, as well as licenses of TypeDNA Font Managers for Mac / PC and MainType Professional for PC. There will also be an informal offline party in 5 cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Kiev and Chicago.

About the event:

Helvetica World is held for the first time, and is planned on an annual basis. We will collect designers and ordinary viewers for recreation, exhibitions, live communication and competitions on May 10 in different cities of the world. And the whole of the following year, the event website www.helveticaworld.com/ru will serve as a showroom for the exhibition works of designers participating in our contests and competitions.

This year: We have a competition for designers in the program, an exhibition in 5 cities, also a viewing of the film “Helvetica”, for which we received permission, and the soundtrack was sent to the re-sound to the guys from AlexFilm. Also, depending on the city that will receive guests, various entertainment, whether it be games on old consoles, or in an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility - board games. In addition, you should not forget about live communication with like-minded people, meeting new people and potential colleagues outside the network. And of course gifts for the participants of the competition.

About contest

Anyone can take part in the competition regardless of the city and country of residence.
To participate, it is enough to create a design, on a free theme, in any style from minimalism and photography, to modern and 3D. The key rule is the use of fonts and combinations in operation: Helvetica, Akzidens Grotesk and Neue Haas Grotesk
The work must be sent to contest@helveticaworld.com before May 8, inclusive, by submitting it as an A3 or A4 poster.

About Prizes

The best works will be licensed by TypeDNA Font Manager and High-Logic MainType Professional font managers with plug-ins for Adobe products, as well as a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch tablet.

Prices:

We really wanted the event to be free to attend, as in other matters we planned to find a partner who would provide free ice cream, as the guys in the USA organized, but in our country no one went to contact. We will try to fix this omission next year.

Participation in the competition is free, and the entrance to the event is assigned by institutions:
Moscow - 420 rubles.
Kiev - 90 UAH.
Chelyabinsk - 150 rubles.
St. Petersburg 250 rubles.
