Report from InterSystems Global Summit 2013

The regular InterSystems Global Summit 2013 took place from 7 to 11 April in Orlando, Florida. This annual event gathers hundreds of InterSystems developers and partners from around the world. At the summit, InterSystems top management announces the company's results for the year, lectures and workshops are held with hands-out on new products and best practices in working with InterSystems technologies. Under the cut a small photo essay with InterSystems Global Summit 2013.

A place

The event took place in the 5-star Peabody Hotel, Orlando, Florida, USA. The hotel easily accommodates 1000+ visitors, and is perfect for both large-scale corporate meetings and a tropical getaway.

Partners

Summit partners were made this year by companies such as IBM, HP, SuSe, Symantec, J2 Interactive and many others - the full list can be found here .


Among the exhibiting partners was the Russian company Letograf , a supplier of cloud solutions for document circulation of any complexity.

Content

The event included lectures, workshops, team trainings and sales training, which were held simultaneously in 8 rooms. Practical seminars were held on the following topics:

Mobile applications

• Testing the new javascript framework InterSystems Zen Mobile to create mobile applications;
• mobile application development with InterSystems REST-API, JSON and javascript frameworks;
• Solving security issues when developing mobile applications.

BI and Big Data

• complex cases of building data warehouses in BI technology InterSystems DeepSee;
• New features for building UI for DeepSee cubes;
• addressing performance issues for working with large amounts of data in DeepSee.

Application Deployment and Administration

• performance monitoring;
• InterSystems Database mirroring high availability solution;
• minimization of time costs when upgrading versions of Caché, Ensemble;
• change management for team development of projects on Caché, Ensemble, Healthshare foundation, automatic build of test builds, test driven development.

Connected healthshare

• health care integration solutions;
• using BI DeepSee in healthcare solutions;
• Work with HL7, IHE and CDA standards.

Cultural and entertainment program

From the entertainment program I remember a trip to Universal Park, which the company booked only for summit visitors. Engineers from all over the world enthusiastically tested the strength of the roller coaster, SpiderMan and other entertainment structures. None of the engineers and of the constructions was hurt)

Victory

And it is very pleasant to announce that in 2013 the team from KhAI won the international competition of student projects Worldwide Student Programming Cometition , under the leadership of Alexander Borisovich Leshchenko and earned a prize for himself and the institute in the amount of 10 thousand dollars.
The leader of the development team, Andrei Guk, personally received a prize from Robert Nagle, vice president of software development at InterSystems.
