The company AMLogic is preparing to release a new single-chip platform - AML8726-M8. The novelty can boast of high performance, because it will include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with a frequency of 2.0 GHz and an eight-core graphics core Mali-450 MP8.

The performance of the AML8726-M8 CPU will be 20,000 DMIPS (Dhrystone Millions of Instruments per Second) or approximately 2.5 DMIPS / MHz per compute core. In turn, the Mali-450 MP8 will be able to provide a fill rate of 3 gigapixels / s, and its performance will be 45 Gflops.

AML8726-M8 will be produced by 28-nanometer technology and will receive a dual-channel 128-bit DDR3 RAM controller. Means of SoC will be achieved decoding video 4K2K resolution or two video streams with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels simultaneously. The list of interfaces supported by the single-chip platform includes single- and dual-channel LVDS, HDMI 1.4b, MIPI and ISP. Surely not without USB support.

According to preliminary data, AML8726-M8 will be released in the third quarter of this year, and the appearance of ready-made devices based on the new platform should be expected at the end of the year.
