Samba project received specifications for protocols from Microsoft

The Samba project has received specifications for the network protocols used in the server versions of Windows.

This became possible as a result of the decision of the European Commission to provide protocol specifications to competitors. The decision was made in March 2004, but the MC filed an appeal, which the court rejected in September of this year.

Jeremy Allison, one of the developers of Samba, said that the agreement establishes the exact amount of patents used, so there can be no double interpretation of the text in the future.
