How we launched the 20-liter "rocket" on the water
Today I want to publish the material that we prepared last year. However, for several reasons, he lay on the shelf. It's about how we launched into the air a 20 liter bottle from the cooler with the help of water and an automobile pump. This is the only one who did not. Sparkling wine test
First, we tried the effect of jet thrust on a bottle of sparkling wine, attached wheels to it. Enough power to bottle drove a little over 2 meters.
Departure for nature and preparation for launch
Since the estimated altitude of the flight of the “20-liter rocket” is above 10 meters, we set off for the launch outside the city. To begin with, the bottle was filled with water by a third. It was decided to regulate the pressure on the eye by adjusting for this a cork of electrical tape wound on a hose from an automobile compressor.
Trial run
Having installed the rocket on the launch pad and connecting the hose to it from the compressor, we launch it. Misfire. After a couple of minutes the hose knocked out and all the water flowed out. The rocket did not even budge, although the bottle had a little swelling bottom (rocket nose). Either the pressure is low or there is a lot of water and the rocket is too heavy.
Again preparation and second launch
To begin with, it was decided to increase the density of the cork by winding several more layers of electrical tape. Water at the same time poured the same. Installation again. Although the launch did not take place again, the rocket nevertheless made an attempt to take off.
Change parameters and the third launch
Once the rocket broke away from the launch pad, it means that it already has the strength. Now we tried to change the weight of the rocket, reducing the amount of water in half. Finally everything worked out. The rocket flew.
Test run
To make sure that the result is not random, we launched a rocket 2 more times and all the launches were successful.
