Iceland's court ordered Visa to resume payments for Wikileaks

If you remember, in the midst of the conflict of governments of different countries and Wikileaks, many financial organizations chopped off payments for this organization (Visa, for example, blocked payments from back in 2010). Of course, Wikileaks, an organization that lives at the expense of charitable assistance, immediately began to experience certain difficulties, including the inability to maintain the servers in operation. As you can see, all the same server Wikileaks continue to work, since the resource itself continues to function. But litigation over the inability to make a payment for Wikileaks is still going on. And just the other day, the Icelandic court ordered the local Visa branch to resume payments for Wikileaks.

Now this unit is called Valitor (formerly Visa Iceland), and in case of disobedience, this organization will have to pay a fine of $ 6,830 a day. It is unlikely that Visa will oppose the decision of the court, so that Wikileaks will now be able to receive charitable assistance. Of course, all this does not apply to the remaining Visa divisions, and even more so, such organizations as MasterCard and PayPal. However, a shift in this whole thing has occurred, even if only a small one. It may well be that, following Iceland, the governments of some other countries will take some measures.

By the way, a similar lawsuit is currently under way in Denmark, so now it is likely that the blockade will be lifted in this country too.

Assange expressed the hope that EU legislatures also recognize that blocking payments for Wikileaks by all major payment systems is illegal.
