
The Russian Union of Travel Industry (
PCT ) on Monday accepted
ChronoPay, a company developing e-commerce systems, into its ranks. Thus, an influential industry association has expressed its keen interest in the early development of the field of electronic payments in the tourism business.
ChronoPay loudly
declared itself in September, when it offered the first in Russia platform for booking air tickets through the Internet E-Avia. The company plans to provide methodological and technological support to the PCT participants in organizing secure online payments for electronic tickets, hotel rooms and other services.
According to the head of the E-Avia project, Igor Zvorykin, “in Russia as a whole, the necessary infrastructure is already present for the mass development of Internet sales of transport and tourism services. In most of the large and medium-sized settlements, there is affordable broadband Internet. Russia already occupies the 3rd place in Europe in the number of Web users (more than 25 million people). At the same time, plastic bank cards are widespread. This year, the number of bank cards issued in Russia has exceeded 80 million. ”
