Last night I accidentally saw that the volume control was missing from the taskbar. Deciding that this is a glitch that will disappear after a reboot, turned off the computer. In the morning, my child was very unhappy that the cartoons were silent and the sound control was gone.
Having entered the control panel - Sounds and Audio Devices, I tried to put it back in place, but I received a message that the sndvol32.exe file was missing. Without thinking, I found the same on the network (he was with the Italian language) and returned the sound to its place.
But a few hours later my friend called me, who I sometimes help with computers. He reported that he also lost sound. Both he and I have an antivirus - Avast! .. And my friend himself watched the process of deleting the sndvol32.exe file as a malicious Avast! Program, and twice (he also downloaded this file from the network).

Message to technical support Avast! I've posted. Post for other friends in misfortune. Method of elimination - find it on the sndvol32.exe network (having checked it with an online antivirus beforehand, for example DrWeb -
vms.drweb.com/online ) or restore it from the installation disk (
Lure_of_Chaos ), move it to windows / system32, enter the control panel - Sounds and audio devices - Volume and return the volume control to its place.
