On April 20, 2013, on the official Portal of the Science City of Dubna, news appeared with the awesome title “Flood develops according to the most alarming scenario”. Here is a small quote from it:
At the regular meeting of the operational headquarters of the Head of the City V.E. Prokh said: “Unfortunately, the flood is developing according to the most alarming scenario, there is a very powerful discharge of water from the Ivankovo reservoir. Today, the water has risen to a critical level of level - gardening partnerships, including "Zarya", "Zarya -1", "Dubna", the water rises close to residential buildings. In such conditions, in order to protect the population, I was forced to declare an emergency.

I think you will understand our concern if I say that it is in Dubna that there is a place called the Russian Programming Center, which, actually, is the development center of our group of companies and most of our corporate resources!
If you have not been to Dubna, then by reference (http://www.dubna-oez.ru/) you can see how it looked in “peacetime”. I will not go into details about the causes of such a situation, because do not judge, but you will not be judged. Therefore, only a few photos of the facts.

April 22, 2013 at 13:00 after visiting the server, located on the ground floor of the main building, where the opening of the raised floor showed that another 30 cm and our servers "float", it was decided to evacuate the equipment a couple of floors above. An hour after the evacuation, the electricity in the building was cut off.
Despite another statement on the official portal of the city that "The situation has stabilized," today the water level is expected to increase by another 40 cm.
What conclusion did I personally draw from the current situation, having stayed for a few (hopefully!) Days without most of the corporate resources? Disaster-resistant information systems are not fantastic monsters, only Giants like Google and Microsoft have a need for, but a harsh necessity even for medium-sized businesses who want to feel safe even in our, as it seemed to us before, safe middle lane. .
