We made a video for our new game Shadow Fight 2 and want to talk about its creation. On the video for the game Vector, we recently told, but quite a bit. This time there will be more useful information and pictures too :)
As usual, work on the movie begins with a storyboard. ')
When creating a storyboard, the ideas of the visual style of the video are already emerging. However, in most cases, references are first collected. In view of the fact that the game is devoted to martial arts, I wanted to convey the appropriate atmosphere. Traditional oriental painting is great for this, but the technique is extremely complex for animation.
Therefore, we had to stop at the averaged "West-Eastern" comic version.
After this, the adaptation of game characters for the video began. As a result, there were such model sheets.
Then came the turn of the layouts (layout - traced storyboard).
On the basis of the layouts a detailed animatic was assembled.
In some scenes such “bed sheets” were used for imperceptible transitions between frames.
Sometimes you had to use “sheet-like” compositions to create the effect of smoke and dust. In order to get clouds of dust, the layers simply move in a certain direction.
However, in some scenes dust and sand should be as effective as possible. In this case, the animation is better to draw by hand.
By itself, the process of drawing frame-by-frame animation is not the most interesting activity, so I will tell about it in a few words. The drawn frame is filled in the necessary colors, the shadow is added. Then assembled.
The video also used perekladochnaya animation. Some tasks are easier to solve with its help.
Each scene passes approximately the same processing before the finished frame appears.
Surely you noticed a gorgeous fire, which is made using the Trapcode Particular plugin.
You can consider a project with this fire by downloading it from the official site of Trapcode.
Voice narrator - Dennis Bateman (Dennis Bateman). Voice recording was again done by the studio Bad Animals . It is very pleasant to work with Americans, because not every studio can offer almost immediately 50 voice actors. However, among all the actors, we chose a person who spoke for Pyro and Spy in Team fortress 2 and many other AAA games. The music was answered by the composer, who created the soundtrack for King's Bounty. This is Michael "Lind Erebros" Kostylev . The sound was made by Principle Audio. The result of collaboration was this video:
And finally. Our company is developing, we are becoming stronger and we offer you to grow with us. Now we have a great internship program that allows talented people with no experience to try their hand at creating games. Details on http://nekki.ru/talents/ .
