Recently, the kick-start of the “budget” 3D printer project -
RigidBot 3D Printer, which offers a high-quality and cheap version of 3d printing for home or office, started. In the best traditions of crowdfunding, in the first 12 hours the requested amount ($ 31,500) was exceeded by an order of magnitude and, for the time being, is approaching the $ 500,000 mark.

And although you won’t surprise anyone with the next 3D printer, it’s worth highlighting a couple of interesting features of this project:
Price
The device comes in a set and assembled (if you are not afraid of the price of delivery). Thus, the lower bracket (whale option) at
$ 340 is perhaps the lowest in the commercial segment, however, after the completion of financing, it will rise to $ 500. Moreover, with the purchase comes 1 kg of plastic for printing (bonus for the collected $ 200.000).
As an improvement, you can buy an LCD / SD kit that allows you to print without a computer or any amount of additional plastic.

Device
The printer is very interested in its design: according to the author's idea, the print area is scaled at minimal cost - replacing the guides and part of the supporting frame. The carrier part of the device is made of steel profile that has a good effect on the price, vibration resistance and very poorly affects the weight and price of delivery.
The basic model allows you to print in the amount of
25x25x25 cm, which is already larger than that of the
Replicator 2 , the BIG version is in unimaginable
30x40x25 cm .
The authors
Perhaps it would not be superfluous to mention the authors of the project. They are employees of the company
inventapart.com engaged in professional 3D printing on expensive and large FDM machines. In my opinion, this should have a very positive impact on the quality of the design and engineering ideas.
