Firefox set a new record for popularity: 11.8%

In August 2006, a free browser set a new record for its own popularity. For one month, the share of Firefox increased immediately by 0.5 percentage points: from 11.3% in July to 11.8% in August, according to the latest Net Applications statistics . The popularity of Internet Explorer has decreased by the same amount: from 83.5% to 83%. Statistics on other browsers almost unchanged.

According to Liveinternet statistics , a similar situation is observed in RuNet. Between July and August, the share of Firefox increased from 9.3% to 9.6%, the popularity of Opera increased from 8.8 to 8.9%, and the share of IE decreased from 80.5% to 80.1%.

The Mozilla community and Microsoft are currently working on the following versions of their browsers. Firefox 2.0 should be released at the end of October, and Internet Explorer 7 - approximately in December.
