Google's Summary Zeitgeist

A couple of months ago, Google published the interim results of Zeitgeist - the annual ranking of the fastest growing queries. And at the beginning of this week, the company, “considering“ us finally, issued a final rating. Which, interestingly, differs from the intermediate by no means a couple of points. So, what exactly is the “Runet’s” top Google Zeitgeist list for 2007:

The first line is a rapidly gaining popularity social network Odnoklassniki.Ru . Increased attention to the site Loveplanet , expressed in requests of the same name, turned out to be in 4th place. As for the interests of Runet users for video, music and various information in a convenient format, they are reflected in YouTube , Zaitsev.Net and Wikipedia requests (3rd, 5th and 6th places, respectively).

The Internet communication programs, such as QIP and Skype, are also included in the list, which fully reflects the interests of users moving from “ICQ” to either more convenient IM tools or more advanced ones that open up new opportunities. The only thing that scares is the presence in the rating of such queries as “url” and “www”. What exactly the users were looking for when entering these abbreviations remains a mystery.
