Many of us have a good, high-speed Internet. Therefore, many webmasters do not think about how much the site should weigh. However, I often come across the fact that I have a weak Internet. Such an example is that living at a sufficient distance from the city of M, we do not have 4G, and I do not notice the speed of 3G at all on my phone. Most likely, the article will not reveal anything new to you, just see how much the main pages of popular sites “weigh”, and also try to figure out acceptable numbers.

Sites

We will load the main pages of the site and find out how much they weigh.
For analysis, I took the first 50 sites from liveinternet statistics. The remaining 30 I made up of ratings zabugore and personal use.
In this article we will not divide the sites by type, but just take a look at the overall picture of the world.

Browser and machine

To take readings, Firefox 20 was taken on a machine with xUbuntu 12.04. On other machines and browsers, sites may differ, but not by much.

Sites with everything turned on

I opened all the tabs and saved them. Both Flash and HTML5 items were also saved, which significantly increases the size of the site.
