YouTube video archive has grown to 45 terabytes
In the US magazine WSJ published interesting statistics on the service YouTube . The figures illustrate the stunning growth of an online amateur video publishing service.
For the last number of videos in the archive has increased from 5.1 million to 6.1 million, that is, about 20%. The total number of views has grown to 1.73 billion. The approximate volume of the entire video archive now stands at about 45 TB. From August 2005 to August 2006, YouTube’s monthly audience grew from 58,000 to 20 million people. About 70% of registered users are Americans. Approximately every second under 20 years.
The company has to allocate several million dollars a month to pay for the traffic.
