AOptix Stratus turns iPhone into a mobile biometric identification device.

Existing mobile biometric identification devices are quite expensive and cumbersome.

California-based AOptix has announced a Stratus biometric system, the basis for which is the usual iPhone 4 or 4S, reports Engadget .

Until now, biometric identification solutions have been either stationary complexes or difficult-to-use mobile products with limited functionality. Using the capabilities of the iPhone and our rich experience in creating solutions for personal identification, AOptix provides an ideal mobile platform that will significantly expand the field of application of biometrics.

The entire system consists of hardware called “AOptix Stratus MX” and a special application “AOptix Stratus App” under iOs.

Stratus MX is equipped with fingerprint scanners and iris and is protected by a hinged protective cover. At the same time, it is possible to use the application even without the hardware part, allowing you to make an identification using face or voice recognition. One battery charge is enough for 8 hours of continuous operation.



It is assumed that the Stratus complex will be useful primarily to government and military organizations, as well as companies working with confidential information.

The cost of the whole complex is still unknown, but the application is already available in iTunes for $ 200.
