Google accounts can now be configured in case you cannot use them.

Today in the settings of your Google account , a group of settings “ Google just in case ” appeared, which The Verge journalists gloomily described as “what to do with your data if you die”.

The essence of the new settings (the Russian version is available) is that once an account owner can have something happen, after which no one can access the account, anyone can choose from two options - all account data (letters, photos, videos, contents Google Drive) will be transferred to the trustee, which must be specified, or - after a specified period of inactivity - user data will be permanently and permanently deleted.

The first thing to indicate if there is a desire to use the new "features" is to indicate the period of inactivity of the account (three months by default), after which it will be considered that its owner has died. Each time you successfully log in to Google as a live user, this period will automatically increase.

If the grim date is approaching, then Google will send a warning by e-mail or SMS that you need to urgently use your account - in case the owner simply forgot about it. It will also be necessary to indicate the circle of authorized representatives to whom the contents of the left account will be transferred, if something really happened to its owner - they will be sent appropriate alerts in case of the “X” hour.

And finally, if for some reason the account owner decides not to share his digital heritage with anyone, then you can choose the option in which all data will simply be deleted after the expiration date.
