Glass acquires such properties due to rapid cooling. Once in cold water, the outer layer is instantly cooled and compressed, while the rest of the substance is even hotter. The outer shell compresses the contents and strong pressure is generated inside. This pressure resists shocks and the glass is no longer fragile. But one has only to break the outer shell, as soon as this very internal pressure blows a drop almost to dust. more
Soap bubbles float in carbon dioxide
The resulting carbon dioxide (CO2), from the mixing of acetic acid and baking soda, is heavier than air. In an aquarium, the gas sinks to the bottom. Soap bubbles filled with air, fall on the gas surface. Since we do not see either air or carbon dioxide, it seems that the bubbles hang in the air.

Flowers change color
The liquid in which the flowers are found is a mixture of ether and ammonia solution (ammonia). Both of these substances are volatile. Ammonia vapors create an alkaline environment in the flower petals. At the same time, vapors of ether are extracted (extracted) from plant cells. Most vegetable dyes are natural indicators, that is, substances that change color depending on the environment in which they fall (acidic, neutral, alkaline). So in our case, once in alkaline medium, the dyes changed color. Ordinary tea behaves in a similar way when a lemon is put into it: it brightens, that is, changes color in an acidic environment. Most of the violet and pink flowers in an alkaline medium become bright green in color, the white ones turn yellow, and the autumn red leaves instantly turn green. But yellow flowers, such as buttercups and marigolds, do not change color. more
