Ten of the best gadgets in 2007. Version Time

The end of the year and the beginning of the next is the hottest time for compiling various charts and top lists. Manufacturers in the general marketing impulse are fighting for the attention of the media, so that their products are included in the lists of the most-most. However, often many leading magazines and online portals rely on their own ratings in choosing devices, events, software, etc. Last week, Time magazine, the most famous magazine, marked its list of the top 10 gadgets of 2007. I do not presume to judge how honestly this ten has been compiled, but for the most part the devices in it are represented and distributed among the “places” quite adequately.

1. Apple iPhone

2. Nikon Coolpix S51c

3. Skype phone Netgear SPH200W

4. Palm Centro

5. Sony Handycam HDR-CX7

6. Samsung P2

7. Toshiba Portégé R500-S5004

8. FlyTech Dragonfly

9. Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive

10. Belkin N1 Vision Wi-Fi Router

Time journalists put iPhone on the first place for the reason that "this product has completely changed the understanding of how a mobile phone should work and look." Marked at the second position of the Nikon Coolpix S51c, it turned out there due to the presence of wireless network capabilities. And other devices, such as a Wi-Fi-phone with support for Skype Netgear SPH200W, a Palm Centro smartphone, etc., may well be considered worthy of mention in any charts of interesting devices.

PS
Dispute certain items in the top ten Time does not make much sense. Any authoritative opinion on which device is better or worse deserves attention. Especially if for a moment it is assumed that the location of the gadgets in the top was not affected by the direct relationship of the manufacturers with the advertising department of the magazine.

But personally, I would add products like the ASUS eeePC and HTC Touch to this list. The first is for the “discovery” of the new niche of “portable Internet devices”, and the second is for successful competition (both in terms of design and user interface, and in terms of manufacturability) from the iPhone.
