Comstar-UTS announces the operating results of the alternative and traditional business segments for the second quarter of 2006. During the reporting period, the growth of the subscriber base of broadband Internet access was 73% (net growth of 126,927 subscribers) to 301,045 compared with the results of the 2nd quarter of 2005. The subscriber base of Stream TV doubled to 28,556 subscribers compared to the first quarter of 2006.
“During the time I devoted to studying the current state of affairs of the company, I was pleased to note that our new line of Stream tariff plans, including both broadband Internet access services and digital television (double play), was very positively accepted by the market, - comments on operating results Eric Franke, CEO of Comstar-UTS. - As a result of the introduction of these tariffs in May 2006, in a fairly short time and, despite the seasonal decline in activity, the number of pay-TV users doubled compared with the first quarter of 2006. I am confident that this initiative, combined with the company's rebranding, is the key to the further growth of this strategically important business segment of the Comstar-UTS group of companies.
