The Federal Agency for Education has summed up the results of a tender for the connection to the Internet of 52,940 Russian schools. As follows from the information published on the official website of the Russian Federation for placing information about placing orders, the winner of the tender was
RTKomm , a member of the Synterra group of companies.
Under the terms of the tender for Internetization of Russian schools, the state will allocate 3 billion rubles from the federal budget. By the end of 2006, 1 billion rubles will be allocated. - by this time "RTKomm" should connect 18,000 schools. The remaining educational institutions should be provided with Internet access by the end of 2007, when the state will allocate the remaining 2 billion rubles.
In addition to RTKomm, four other companies expressed their desire to participate in the project - VimpelCom, the second largest cellular operator in the country, as well as the little-known St. Petersburg National Open University, Magnifogorsk Maginfo and Moscow Alfalk, the newspaper
Vedomosti reports. But the tender commission recognized their bids as non-compliant with the requirements of the tender documentation.
