Real aircraft, controlled from the tablet

After the last test of James Bond's cars , we were approached by people who wished to remain anonymous. They advised not to suffer from this nonsense and score on cars. Like, you need to think more globally.

As a result, these people provided a very real Sukhoi Superjet 100 for testing.

On board according to the already tested scheme, actuators were installed, which control the steering wheel and other controls. Manages all, of course, the controller virt2real. Since the plane (not that old Opel) has a lot of its electronics, including a full autopilot, it was possible to connect directly. But the mechanical control is still left for duplication.

Since wi-fi is not suitable here, two APC220 transceivers operating on 433 MHz on adjacent channels (transmitting on one, receiving on the other, for full duplex) are used to transmit commands on board and to receive telemetry from the board. Transceiver power is enough for a connection at a distance of approximately 1 km in direct line of sight. But, since the earth is round and Moscow is rather rather small, direct visibility is not always available, we had to set the booster at 7 watts and make a sensitive antenna . Telemetry from the board is taken to the transceiver and displayed in the application on a laptop.

Video (analog) was transmitted using a conventional FPV video transmitter, known to all aircraft model makers. To increase the range of reception installed antenna Gatling .

The application for the iPad was used the same as the Opel managed, only had to add accelerometer processing so that it was possible to control the inclination by pitch and roll. Cool turned out - you take off and swing wings.

A lot of headaches delivered the approval of the tests with the special services, but in the end the go-ahead was received and the field tests took place.

The video of the first test is now being mounted, it will be a little later.

UPD> Special services arrived, seized video. So the test video is canceled, unfortunately.
