In France, in the near future, a futuristic picture can become real - a compact drone flies up to the house, gently drops the attached package with newspapers on a green lawn and, hardly audibly rustling with propellers, flies to the next house (
fantasy ).
The French postal service La Poste Groupe began testing the delivery of morning newspapers with drones of the Parrot type, which is a modification of the quadrocopter already
known on Habré for about $ 300 and which can be controlled using iOS or Android devices. Only in this case, the option of using the device looks more serious and practically valuable - Parrot.com has entered into a formal agreement with the French Post.
However, while drones have serious limitations - an extremely small radius of action (50 meters) and only half an hour battery life. It is also not quite clear how the delivery will take place: whether the drone will be completely autonomous - that is, whether it will know where and at what time it will fly or whether the postman will actually manage it from his ipad. Also curious about the mechanics of how the newspapers will be “dumped”.

Testing is scheduled for May and a solid batch of drones will take part in the project - 20 pieces.
In flight, the drone postman looks like this:
