Managing site rights with Google’s webmaster tools is easier

New features have been added to Google Webmaster Tools , making it easier to work with verified site owners:

● View confirmation details . Now you can find out how the site owner has confirmed his ownership. Go to the “Manage Site Owners” page and you will see the “Confirmation Information” section. The screenshot below shows an example of such information for a user who passed the test by adding a meta tag.

If applicable, the details page will display links to the corresponding confirmations, and you can easily find them.

● Delete the confirmation method before deleting the owner. Before canceling the confirmation for the site owner , you now need to remove the corresponding verification method from the Webmaster Tools. If this method is found on the site when you try to delete a user, you will see an error message. For example, if a DNS CNAME verification method was found in the domain’s DNS records, the following warning will appear



● Reduced CNAME check string. The CNAME check string has become shorter: it will support more DNS providers. Some systems have restrictions on the number of characters that can be used in DNS records. In this regard, some users previously could not confirm their ownership by using CNAME . Now the verification string for this method contains fewer characters. Valid CNAME confirmations will remain valid.
