Digitimes: Windows RT will no longer

Known for its insider information, the Digitimes resource claims that Microsoft is no longer going to support the special edition of Windows for ARM Windows RT.

According to Digitimes, Microsoft’s expectations of selling devices with Windows RT (the cheapest version of the Surface tablet with 32 GB of memory costs $ 499) were too high - there is a Bloomberg agency’s opinion that just 1.5 million Surface devices were sold at the same time, while the share of RT tablets there was just a million sales, and the remaining 500 000 were for the Pro version. The main disappointment is the impossibility of executing existing x86 programs, Microsoft itself does not disclose sales data.

Thus, in the next release of Windows, which, according to rumors, is codenamed Blue, RT will be updated to the level of the new system, enabling Micrsoft not to support the unpopular version of its product.

The first public release of Windows Blue is expected at the Microsoft Build Developer Conference, which will be held June 26-28 this year.
