Evernote 5 for Android: new shooting modes, support for Moleskine Smart Notebook notebooks, shortcuts and search in documents

New shooting mode

The new feature allows you to create multiple shots in a row and save them in one note. If any photo came out unsuccessful, simply delete it from the list before saving.



Document camera
Now, photographing any document or record on paper, you can enable on the screen a new shooting option. This is a document camera, it works like a scanner. Just activate this mode and you can digitize paper documents and handwritten notes and add them to Evernote. To do this, grab the document in a rectangle on the screen of your device and take a picture.

The application will determine the borders of the sheet, remove the shadows and adjust the image contrast, after which a photo will appear in your Evernote account, adapted for recognizing handwritten and typed text using our service. Then the photographed documents and records will be indexed and made available for search, as well as regular text notes.

Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine

When working with the Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine, the document camera becomes especially useful.



Points
Each page of the notebook has dots instead of lines. When shooting with the document camera, Evernote uses dots to align the image and adjust the contrast. As a result, you get bright and clear pages with notes and sketches. We optimized the notepad for handwriting recognition to ensure that all entries are searchable.

Smart Stickers
Each Evernote Smart Notebook notebook comes with a set of colored “smart” stickers in the back pocket. If you stick a sticker to a notepad page and then photograph it with a document camera, we recognize the sticker and assign a new label or notepad to the new note. In the settings of the application, you can customize "smart" stickers for yourself.

Shortcuts

Evernote for Mac users already know about shortcuts. And today we first implemented this feature in a mobile application. Shortcuts allow you to quickly jump to the notes, notebooks and labels with which you work most often. To create a shortcut, open the shortcut bar by swiping from the right edge of the screen when viewing a list of notes, notebooks or tags, as well as when viewing a single note.



Evernote labels are synced across platforms. If you have already created shortcuts on Mac, now they will appear in Android, and vice versa.

New premium feature: search in documents

Now, with each search query, premium users will get the appropriate results from the documents in your account, spreadsheets and presentations created in Microsoft Office and iWork. Save such documents in Evernote has become even more useful.

Recall that premium users can also search scanned PDF files.
