Six Apart’s plans to release the open source version of its Movable Type blogging platform have finally been realized. The version of MTOS (Movable Type Open Source) from today is officially available under the GPL license. The open source version retains all the capabilities of the Movable Type 4.0 commercial platform.
Let me remind you - Movable Type is a platform for publishing blogs and websites, which is an alternative to the popular Wordpress engine. The main features of Movable Type are the ability to statically publish pages, which makes it resilient to unexpected attendance spikes (the so-called digg effect), as well as rich basic functionality — for example, multiblogging support and OpenID do not require installation and configuration of additional plug-ins.
