WiFi network to the city

In the English city of Norwich, you can get online by walking along any of its streets. This city is one giant access point, reports the BBC .

To provide wireless internet access, more than 200 antennas have been installed in Norwich, which provide full coverage in three districts and the city center. Communication when moving from street to street does not disappear.

There are access points not only on the streets, but also in the city hall, libraries and the university. At the same time, the city network is not protected in any way, and users are warned that it is not safe to send important information through it.
In addition, to avoid competition with commercial access providers, the speed in the city’s network is limited: 256 Kb / s for regular users, 1 Mb / s for government employees. Sessions are limited in time - after 60 minutes the network has to connect again.
