As part of the
Google Books project, it is now possible not only to view the scanned pages of books one by one, but also to download the entire PDF file, where the entire book will be in excellent quality.
Some of the books that are officially recognized as public domain are available for downloading. For example, Dante
's Divine Comedy in PDF takes up 19.9 MB.
In addition to Google Books, another major archive of digitized books on the Internet is
the Gutenberg Project site, which contains about 19,000 free publications, but there is no full-text search for books as on Google.
