Scientists have discovered that our brains work like Google
The process of thinking in the human brain occurs roughly according to the same principles that are laid down in the basis of the legendary PageRank ranking algorithm. Psychologists from the University of Berkeley, specializing in computational models of cognitive processes, found that Google’s patented algorithms best describe what can be observed during vocabulary learning experiments with Homo sapiens. The results of his work “Google and the Mind: Predicting Fluency With PageRank” Tom Griffiths and colleagues published in the journal Psychological Science, vol 18, p 1069 (paid subscription). In the free access there are other scientific works of Griffiths about the same topic.
In connection with this, the forecasts of Google’s technical director Craig Silverstein about the search technologies of the future come to mind. Three years ago, he said that the Google interface could be embedded directly into the brain with the help of a special genetically modified neuro-implant animal. Indeed, direct and instant access to all the knowledge of mankind will significantly improve our cognitive abilities. In turn, such an innovation can lead a civilization to a new stage of development and closely bring it closer to the singularity point .
