The answer service for Formspring closes

The Formspring.me service, launched in November 2009, closes due to the need for huge resources for its work. This was announced in the company's blog on March 15.

Formspring.me was designed to ask users questions and answer them. User responses are then posted on his page. Questions could be asked both publicly and anonymously. The number of registered Formspring users exceeded 30 million, the number of messages exceeded 4 billion.

You can ask questions in Formspring before March 31; All user messages will be available for export to the archive until April 15, after which the service will completely remove all content. The site and applications will work offline.

After the sudden popularity of Formspring, similar functions were introduced by many sites, such as Ask.fm, Tumblr, and MyYearbook. However, Formspring was criticized for the anonymity of the records, which could be used to harass and intimidate users. In 2010, it became known first about the fight in Harrisburg, connected with the dispute in Formspring, and then about the suicide of the girl, who received several dozen offensive comments on the site.
