The end of GPRS "on traffic": MTS and Beeline raised the price of a megabyte to 10 rubles

The MTS operator in the news with the optimistic headline “Mobile Internet from MTS for all occasions!” Warned its subscribers that from March 18, the cost of GPRS traffic will be about 10 rubles per megabyte. 9 rubles 90 kopecks, to be exact.

The very way of presenting information on tariff changes deserves a separate prize for the "quality" of corporate communication:

(the most useful is hidden in the sixth paragraph)
')
Beeline introduced similar tariffs even earlier, but the main question is different:

Obviously, the cost of operator traffic can only fall and all tariff manipulations are designed only to increase the costs of subscribers either in the form of an increase in payment for traffic, or in the form of their transition to unlimited tariff plans.

(Super MTS, Go! and Go to 0 tariffs were compared, respectively)

The share of users who remain profitable to remain on the megabyte tariffing of the mobile Internet has declined in the past, mainly for two reasons.

First: reduce the cost of unlimited Internet access packages
Second, the transition to more “voracious” devices with a touch-screen, which cannot be fully used without access to the Internet.

As a result, many of those who spend little traffic, connect to unlimited Internet packages only in order not to encounter a sudden overrun. Random "arrival of the firmware" can cost several hundred rubles.
People do not like stress and unpredictability. And the operators are only on the hand, but this policy does not look friendly to consumers of cellular services.

How to be? Very simple - to limit the possible loss of subscribers. Voluntarily, without requiring them to subscribe to unlimited tariffs. And do not rejoice at the fact that the subscriber did not keep up with traffic, but give the consumer the right to a relatively inexpensive error.

Is it possible to preserve the loyalty of the subscriber, in case of his error?

Can. For example, in the Finnish network Saunalahti, the subscriber, if he did not connect the package of unlimited access to the network (from 6.8 euros per month), and accidentally downloaded something voluminous from the network, will part on this day with only 1.9 euros. This, of course, will lead him to the idea that it would not be bad to connect unlimited access to the Internet, but will not leave him without pants.
