New Backtrack: Meet Kali Linux

The well-known distribution kit for pentesting BackTrack changes its name to Kali Linux and moves from Ubuntu to Debian. Kali Linux is an advanced Linux distribution for penetration testing and security auditing.



Kali is a complete rebuild of BackTrack Linux, fully adhering to the Debian development standards. The entire infrastructure has been revised, all tools have been analyzed and packaged, and Git is also used.



More than 300 penetration testing tools: After reviewing each tool that was included in BackTrack, a large number of tools were removed that either do not work or duplicate other tools with similar functionality.

Kali Linux, like its predecessor, is completely free and always will be. You never have to pay for Kali Linux.

FHS compliant: Kali was designed to adhere to the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard, which allows all Linux users to easily find executable files, support files, libraries, etc.

Secure development environment: The Kali Linux development team consists of a small group of proxies who can write packages and interact with the repositories only with a few secure protocols.



Multilingual: Although pentest tools are usually written in English, we have ensured that Kali has true multilingual support, which allows most users to work in their native language and find the tools they need to work.

ARMEL and ARMHF support : ARM systems are becoming more and more common and inexpensive, resulting in the creation of working installations for ARMEL and ARMHF systems. Kali Linux has ARM repositories integrated with the main distribution, so the tools for ARM will be updated along with the rest of the distributions.
