Intel division has released an Android version optimized for Intel chips (with UEFI support)

The development team of the Open Source Technology Center of Intel introduced a preliminary version of Android, optimized for the corresponding Intel chips. In other words, there is a version of Android that can be run on a desktop PC, laptop or tablet, on which you usually work with Windows. In addition, there is a tool that allows you to run both Windows 8 and Android on the same computer.

The latest version of the “optimized” Android distribution also supports UEFI Boot, and this is important because Windows 8 PCs are usually distributed with UEFI instead of the usual BIOS. True, the developers decided at the same time to exclude, so to speak, the old "legacy" of the BIOS, so that on older versions of PCs, running Android will not work.

But this does not mean that you can not run Android on computers with x86 chips. There is another project for this, the Android-x86 project .

The latest version of Android from Intel also includes an interactive installer, support for dual boot with Windows 8 and other interesting things. Android 4.2.2_r1-ia0 is based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and uses the Linux 3.8 kernel.

Work on the distribution continues, because there is really something to work on. Bluetooth, for example, is still not working, and the software itself is also sometimes buggy. So far, it’s too early to say, for example, about the possibility of alternatively using Android 4.2.2_r1-ia0 instead of the same Windows 8.

The latest version of the distribution kit can be downloaded here , and the instructions for downloading the installer on a USB flash drive and further installing the distribution kit on a PC are right here .
