Bitcoin network problems - the emergence of two competing block chains

Tonight, dev-team member Peter Willy (Pieter Wuille) discovered the problem of the Bitcoin client version 0.7, which he immediately informed the community about (discussion here ). Further investigation of the problem revealed two chains of blocks generated by customers of versions 0.7 and 0.8, respectively. Most likely, it will be rolled back to the chain generated by version 0.7.

In this situation, miners are encouraged to return to version 0.7. If you are a merchant and are using client version 0.8, you are advised to suspend accepting transactions until you roll back to a single block chain.

Mt.Gox has already suspended all deposits until the problem is resolved. Domestic and foreign market leaders followed him.

UPD: Panic seems to be canceled. Messages began to arrive that the problem was solved and everything would soon return to normal.
