Folding discussion threads
Many of us read comments on topics. Many probably use their “algorithms” to bypass these, sometimes very branchy, trees.
Sometimes it happens that there are disputes / holivars / chatter in a couple of dozens of posts in the comments, sometimes you don’t want to read them - in some cases, you can immediately understand that this is a personal matter of the authors of the comments.
On LJ, use is made of highlighting discussions into separate hidden branches - only now I understood why they did it this way: hiding unnecessary information for an ordinary visitor of the page.

As a result, I have the following consideration: to provide for the functionality of folding bulky branches with the communication of several habra people with each other. This often dispels attention in cases where the topic of discussion is really interesting, but “someone’s post” didn’t like someone and a long argument ensued.

UPD 3: For especially obstinate: I don’t say that I need to take and do as the LJ is arranged - I don’t like these separate pages with branches either - I mean that the user should be able to minimize them.
