Headtracker accessory for Carl Zeiss Cinemizer OLED glasses presented at CeBIT 2013

A year ago, Cinemizer OLED stereoscopic glasses were presented by Carl Zeiss, a well-known manufacturer of optics. And this year, at CeBIT 2013 in Hanover, the company announced a very interesting accessory Headtracker, expanding the functionality of glasses: it captures the movements of the user's head and thus turns them into virtual reality glasses.

Zeiss sees 3D games as the main area of application for this tandem: now in order to, for example, look around in a game, a player just has to turn his head. Cinemizer OLED Product Manager Franz Troppenhagen (Franz Troppenhagen) noted that, in addition, the very possibility of just turning your head to look around, allows you to better immerse yourself in the virtual world, it also gives a real gaming advantage, allowing you to focus on managing the game, rather than on where to look.

The applications of the bundle are not limited to games: at the exhibition, the company demonstrated the use of the device also in architectural visualizers and in other areas.

However, it was not done without a tar spoon: the device shows a small, but still noticeable delay in the reaction of the picture compared to the movements of the head. This deficiency is present in all modern devices, and it is not known how soon manufacturers can overcome it.

The Cinemizer OLED glasses themselves have already appeared in Europe at a price of 650 €, and the Headtracker accessory is planned to be launched for sale in early April at a price of 200 €.
