Google redirected Picasa Web Albums to Google+ Photos

Google, like some other companies, has long been disposing of non-core / unpopular assets among users. These "ballast" assets fall into the once very popular services that were widely heard. For example, Picasa. Picasa Web Albums users are now trying to translate into similar functionality on Google+.

So, the address picasaweb.google.com no longer sends the user to an expected location like Picasa Web Albums. Instead, the profile is being redirected to Google+ Photos. True, there is an opportunity to refuse such redirection. It is necessary to enter picasaweb.google.com/lh/myphotos?noredirect=1 and the user goes where he intended to go. In this case, the specified URL must be entered only once, after that the redirect disappears, and you can enter the usual address, picasaweb.google.com
')
It seems that the days of the Picasa service are numbered, and this is far from a metaphor. So, in April last year, Picasa for Mac services and Picasa Web Albums Plugin for iPhoto were discontinued. Support for Picasa for Linux has also been discontinued, there are no updates for this version and there will not be.

But additional features for photos on the social network Google+ appear quite often. For example, last summer, a feature was introduced that allows you to view photos of other users as a slideshow, as well as download photo albums to your PC. Now Picasa has quite a few features that allow the service to stay afloat. But, probably, after the transfer of photos of Picasa users to Google+, the Picasa service will still be closed.

UPD. An interesting comment came from one of the representatives of the community:

The first commentator writes that you can not insert pictures from there somewhere other than a circle, but this is not so.
It is enough to copy the url of the photo you opened, and do with it what you want, the main thing is that access to the album is not limited.
Also, in the url at the end of the name there is a parameter / s *** / name of the photo.jpg. This s *** affects the zoom width of the photo, for example, the s800 s1024 s5000 will respectively scale the photo by 800 1024 or 5000 pixels in width (the height will adjust itself).
