Photogrammetry is a remote sensing technology that allows to determine the geometric properties of objects from several photographic images from different angles. A more advanced version called stereophotogrammetry allows you to build an approximate 3D model of the object.
Previously, photogrammetry was used mainly in geology, topography and archaeological excavations. Recently, it began to be used in the film industry, and now with the help of this technology a computer game is being created. Work on the three-dimensional quest Rustclad has just begun, a few days ago the developers published an official announcement and video demonstration of how they use photogrammetry to construct the game world, creating digital 3D models from hand-made layouts.
