Briefly about the new: Samsung and Chillingo launch a program for game developers - 100% Indie

Good Friday, Habr!

As part of the World Mobile Congress which ended yesterday (Mobile World Congress 2013), Samsung, together with the publisher of games Chillingo (recently acquired by the giant EA), presented the original program for the development of the mobile gaming industry - 100% Indie. Officially, the new project will be launched on March 4 of this year. It is a platform for applications, the purpose of which is to help young developers in their quest to make the most of the gaming world as comprehensive as possible, and, of course, send their games on a large voyage through Samsung Apps.

As the name implies (Indie = Independent = Independent), each developer will be able to act independently of the site when it comes to launching a new application for sale. Samsung will allow to save every penny earned from sales within six months from the moment the application appeared in Samsung Apps, and the company's share in the process of sharing out profits will be 0%. However, after six months, the share of Samsung will be already 10%, which will gradually grow to 20%. Similar platforms, such as, for example, the Apple App Store, have 30% of the income of developers as soon as the application becomes available in their online store. The share of Samsung will eventually reach the same mark, but only two years later - when the main cream is already removed by the application developers themselves.

Undoubtedly, this option of income distribution in itself is a very attractive offer, but the potential benefit for developers is not limited to this. Those who sign up to participate in the program will also be able to use promotion tools and, in particular, advertising options that Samsung will kindly provide. In today's world, not every start-up can afford this item due to obvious financial risks. In addition, various incentive and motivational events for game development studios were announced, which will be described in more detail later. Well, and perhaps no less tasty "bun": the program 100% Indie will not have exclusive rights to publish, which means that developers will be able to sell their product in other stores.

Any interested developer who has not yet had time to subscribe to a unique share of goodwill (for which there is undoubtedly a completely pragmatic desire to strengthen their positions in the market, which, nevertheless, does not detract from the obvious advantages of the initiative), can do it on the website 100% Indie . All other gamers can also leave their email address there to keep abreast of the news.
