This spring,
ECIR will be held in Moscow - one of the most important information retrieval conferences in the world. It is organized by Yandex and the Higher School of Economics. This
ECIR will be the 35th in a row, but in Russia the conference will be held for the first time.

From March 24 to 27, scientists from Berkeley,
Queen Mary University of London , University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,
School of Computer Science of the University of Glasgow and other leading scientific schools in Europe, the USA, South America and Asia will tell about their research. In our office and in Digital October, workshops from companies and industrial laboratories such as Twitter,
Yahoo! will conduct workshops and read reports.

On March 27, guests and researchers from Twitter, LinkedIn, Microsoft Research, Bing, Bit.ly, Telefonica, Mail.Ru and Yandex will take part in the
Industry day . One of the founders of Yandex, Ilya Segalovich, will act as Industry day chair. The working language of the entire conference will be English.
March 24 ECIR will be held directly in Yandex. In the building where our
School of Data Analysis is usually engaged, leading scientists will
give four lectures on current problems of information retrieval. Also in Yandex,
several workshops will be held, including invited speakers from LinkedIn and
Rutgers University .
ECIR first took place in 1978 in the UK. He was organized by the
British Computer Society . Then it was a small event, which was called the annual colloquium on information retrieval. After 20 years, the future ECIR was first held not in the UK - in France. By the beginning of the two thousandths, it became clear that the event had grown into a very significant event, involving hundreds of researchers in the field of information retrieval. In 2001, it was renamed the European Conference on Information Retrieval.
Participation in the conference is paid; This year a special price is provided for students and teachers of Russian universities.
