Sergey Brin: smartphones are asocial

Sergey Brin gets a lot of money from selling Android smartphones, but Google’s co-founder nonetheless spoke very unflatteringly about them, calling them “castrating” devices and offered Google Glass as a solution to the social problems they create.

On Wednesday, Bryn spoke at TED2013, in his already traditional glasses, and he noted that the growth of smartphones led people to become addicted to antisocial behavior.

The ubiquitous smartphones gave users access to a lot of data in all those places that were previously inaccessible, says Brin, but this access requires people to disconnect from the world around them. In fact, reliance on smartphones is something humiliating, he says.

“Is this how you want to interact with other people?” Continues Brin. “This is a kind of castration. You just rub this faceless piece of glass ... Is that what you want to do with your life? ”

"A cell phone is a nervous habit," explained Bryn. “If I smoked, I would take a cigarette, and it would look cooler. But I take a smartphone and see if I have anything important. ”

Google Glass, developed by Google X Lab, is just the way to stop the curved interaction with the glass screen, which is what characterizes the entire mobile experience.

“When we opened Google 15 years ago,” he explains, “my vision was that the information would come to you as needed. You don’t need to request it at all. ”

And Bryn hopes that the host computers will allow people to leave their smartphones in their pockets instead of requesting information when they need it, and go about their lives.
