The film, funded by Kickstarter, won an Oscar

At the ceremony of the most prestigious American Academy Award Oscar, held on Sunday, February 24, the prize for the best short documentary film was taken by the film Inocente , which collected $ 52,527 at Kikstarter last summer. The film tells about the life of a fifteen-year-old homeless girl from California, who dreams of becoming an artist.

For several years of its existence, the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter helped raise about $ 100 million for cinematic projects. Six films shot for the money collected were nominated for an Oscar this year and last year.

Kickstarter films have already firmly established at the Sundance Independent Film Festival . In 2012 , the festival included nineteen tapes shot with the help of crowdfunding, four of which received awards. In 2013 , five out of seventeen nominees received awards. Now the highest peak of American cinema is also conquered.
