The project The Oculas was launched by British designer Lee McCormack in 2002. The first version of the OV1 device revealed to the world "a unique multimedia solution for individualists obsessed with high technologies", and remained in the prototype stage. In 2005, developers from McLaren Applied Technologies joined McCormack, starting with solving some technical issues and then plunging into the design and creation of the device. On May 14, 2007, the creation of The Oculas OV2 was completed. According to plans created by McCormack and the McLaren team of Lifestyle Space Ltd, the first The Oculas OV2 device will be sold in 2008. Developed over the course of four years, the project is a capsule that hides a comfortable high-tech space for relaxation, rest and work, affecting your senses with appropriately adjusted light, sound, comfort and privacy parameters. A hand-made fiberglass capsule will openly open the door in front of you that opens smoothly to your touch, giving you a small space with a soft, blown fresh air chair in the center. The electronic control system will allow you to adjust the characteristics of the device, select the optimal lighting parameters for reading, watching videos, or relaxing and sleeping. In addition to the soft sofa chair, which can be changed to a massage chair if desired, DVD and CD Audio players and mini PCs are hidden in the capsule (Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, 100GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive, Intel GMA950 integrated graphics, Intel ViiV technology), 5.1 speaker system and monitor. All functions are controlled using a touchscreen, all components and materials are tested for compliance with international safety standards. The capsule is connected to an external power source. More information about the technical characteristics of the device can be found on the official website . The composition and number of components and capabilities are proposed to change if necessary. The creators have no doubt that the appearance of The Oculas OV2 marks the emergence of a new generation of devices in the world of home entertainment. “Oculas is a place to work and play, to sleep, to strengthen your senses, your personal high-tech shelter.” Indeed, a man of hectic modernity urgently needs a quiet place to relax, it seems that the device will be in demand. The question is, do you want to get out of the n-th version of The Oculas? Judge for yourself:
