After several years of field use, the ASUS Eee PC 1005P cracked on the lid and began to grow rapidly. The problem was aggravated by the fact that the crack is located near one of the fasteners, and the entire load during the closing / opening falls on this area. Service centers said that such repairs would cost me approximately as half of the motherland. Under the cut a small photo report of a successful self-repair at home.

Glue

It contains the widely known cyanoacrylate in narrow circles, but unlike the usual laundry detergent “super glue” does not leave white marks and dissolves the plastic, allowing you to glue well “to the joint”. Price - 120 rubles, purchased at the hardware store in the department of varnishes and paints.

The essence of the problem

The crack and the trace left by the temporary patch of rigid stickers "under the carbon".

The LCD display is already dismantled and lies on the keyboard, we see a foil-screen on the lid, a crack in the lower left corner.


Everything is worse than I thought, the canopy is almost completely broken off. Pre-need to well glue the joint crack.

Try on

Pre-glue the joints of the fault, neatly and without fanaticism. If glue droplets appear on the outside - no need to try to erase them . After drying, they will be smaller and can be cut.

Sticking

Bend in accordance with the geometry of the hull. Fix a small amount of glue in several places. The glue, by the way, does not set in an instant, there are 20 seconds, which is only a plus.


Glue completely, special attention to the edges and bends. Leave to dry, better at night. The mesh is quite thin and does not interfere with the installation of the LCD display in place.

3 months later

There are no traces, the crack is almost invisible, no longer becomes.
