Sony has finally introduced a new generation console - the PlayStation 4 (but did not bother to show the console itself at the presentation).

An interesting feature of this console is iron - Sony has moved away from the tradition of installing specific hardware stuffing like the Cell processor and installed the usual x86 processor in the PlayStation - an eight-core AMD made by AMD (details are being specified).

Unfortunately, with the transition from the custom platform to the x86 platform, the console of the new generation will lose the traditional backward compatibility - in this case with the PlayStation 3.

The video card is also a PC-class, and also produced by AMD. Accelerator demonstrates performance level of about 2 teraflops.

The happy game developer will discover 8 gigabytes of unified RAM GDDR 5 with a capacity of 176 GB / s in the console. This memory will be “used” by both the central processor unit and the graphics adapter of the set-top box.

An interesting feature of the PS4 is the streaming function of toys on the PS Vita portable console. Very similar to NVIDIA's Project Shield, where it is proposed to “stream” games from a PC to a portable console.
Another interesting feature of the PS4 was the hibernation mode, similar to that of a PC.

Together with the console, Sony announced the DualShock 4 gamepad - it is equipped with additional buttons, a headphone jack and, most interestingly, a touchpad. Presented and the new 3D camera PlayStation 4 Eye.

Game developers showed the first games for the PlayStation 4: Knack and Killzone shooters: Shadowfall, a Driveclub racing simulator, Deep Down projects from Capcom and Watch Dogs from Ubisoft. Blizzard has promised to transfer its hit Diablo III to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Including at the conference, a representative of SquareEnix was noted, who promised to release on PS4 Final Fantasy. However, no demonstration followed - the game will be shown at E3.
PlayStation 4 launch is scheduled for the end of 2013.
