The first trial of an online pirate

The Vedomosti newspaper writes today about the first judgment in Russian history issued under Article 146 of the Criminal Code (“ Violation of Copyright and Related Rights ”) against an Internet pirate. The court of Voroshilovsky district of Rostov-on-Don sentenced a certain Sergei Avramov to a year of probation for posting links to the BitTorrent file-sharing network for downloading the 1C production software. As stated in the verdict, the damage to the company amounted to 95,100 rubles.

Avramov's lawyer told the newspaper that at the moment in Rostov-on-Don there is another similar trial, also aimed at upholding the copyright of 1C.
