Microsoft has changed the supplier of the proofing module for the Office 2013 (in vain)

Preamble

In 1994, Microsoft attracted independent experts to assess the quality of the spelling check in Russian. The spelling and grammar checks, the completeness of the dictionary, the correctness of the recognition of word forms, the quality of the hyphenation, the quality of the synonyms issued, and much more were evaluated.

Based on the results of expert evaluation, Microsoft licensed the modules of the spelling checker to Informatic, and it was their Russian spelling and grammar checker that stood in all previous versions, starting with the 97th Office.

Someone may know this company for their product called Orfo (it allows you to expand spelling even more, since Microsoft has not licensed all the company's achievements), but this is not about it, but about the product from the new supplier is working (by the way, I wonder who it is - it is possible that Microsoft itself).

Plot

For some reason, the “office” version changed the supplier (Microsoft refuses to comment, but two options are logical: either they decided to save, or Informatics pulled prices up). And this led to a number of problems, both in terms of spelling (you can safely write: narmally, industry, spakoynenko, detsky, boots, theoretically, anywhere, South Korean, inter-clan , etc.), and in terms of grammar:
- not an institution but a mess;
- first of all you did not recheck the letter;
- hard but you have to hold on;
- he loved how in our summer they no longer love.

But this is not the worst (although sometimes the absence of the arrangement of commas or, on the contrary, their recommendation where it is not needed is already “not bad”). So, the "office" offers to correct the correct spelling:
- it is not a goat, but a goat → it is a non-goat, but a goat (as well as non-Sasha, non-money, not evening, etc.);
- you didn’t even think → what you didn’t;
- calorie-free → calorie-free;
- will coax → ass trim;
- blooming → non-flowering years;
- near-standing → near standing;
- travel abroad → not exit;
- polterrasy → terrace floor.

On the website "Informatics" there is a detailed document with a list of the most obvious cases of errors (21 p.).

But do not rush to buy Orfo in addition to the 2013 “office” (some companies now sell joint “bundles” of the office package with Orfo) in the hope of solving these problems (as I did), because many of these bugs do not go away: the new “Office” continues to emphasize some of them and suggests replacing “not Sasha” with “non-Sasha” (apparently, the built-in test is not switchable), although it starts to emphasize words like “normal”.

Hence the moral: if you don’t know the rules very well and don’t want to pile up a bunch of mistakes (both missed and with the bearish office service), do not rush to buy a new “office”. Or, at least, try the trial version first (Office can now be purchased by subscription at around 250 rubles a month, and the first month is free). For example, after a couple of days of similar texts, I canceled the subscription to the new “Office” and returned to the 2010 version.

UPD: information from one of the sides of the barricades. It seems that Microsoft decided to stop Eppla’s stops by making a spellchecker with a blackjack and poetess.
