Startup Weekend Kyiv + Building Social Products at Scale

From Idea to Business in just 54 hours!



March 1-3, 2013 in Kiev, in the office Ciklum (st. Amosova, 12) will be a three-day business marathon Startup Weekend.
Startup Weekend is an entrepreneurial movement of international scope where developers, designers, businessmen and in general everyone who is interested in setting up their own business can test whether their idea is viable.
Businesspeople who have successfully launched their business have been invited to participate in the Startup Weekend as experts. During the weekend, they will work with the formed teams at the same table. And also, they will share their experience, help develop an initial strategy, study the “user's portrait” and point out possible traps that young projects can get into.

As a warm-up in front of the 54-hour Startup Weekend Kyiv Marathon, we invite you to the special Speakers' Corner in Syklum. During the event, you will be able to learn about the features of scaling a social product to an audience of one billion people. Facebook's three leading engineers at the head office will share their experiences as part of a panel discussion session called Building Social Products at Scale .

Why is this event so special?
In addition to ordinary listeners, we invite engineers of Ukraine to meet and network for girls , this will allow not only to meet and see each other, but also to meet and unite with girls Facebook engineers for Ukrainian and international initiatives.

About speakers:

Goranka Bjedov is an infrastructure power engineer at Facebook, and she specializes in user server performance and capacity. Before joining the Facebook team, she worked as a performance engineer at Google, a reliability engineer at NetApp (a company specializing in network storage devices), and a manager of performance at AT & T Labs. Goranka has a doctorate degree in engineering from Clarkson University.

Kari Lee is the technical manager of the Facebook Search Division and focuses on the grammatical aspects of the Count Graph. Before taking a place in management, she was an engineer and worked in various teams of search infrastructure and interfaces. Previously worked for Google and Microsoft. Kari has a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University.

Mary Pimenova is an engineer on Facebook who deals with privacy issues, previously worked in a performance team. Mary has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Washington.
