The blog of the Google team on network security has been
supplemented with a post about innovation in the company's fight against dangerous sites through which malicious software can enter the computer. Now everyone can report a suspicious resource through a
special form , after which the site will be checked for malware automatically.
Let me remind you that Google began working almost two years ago on a system to warn a user of possible harm that a visit to a particular page can cause within the framework of
StopBadware, a program jointly with Lenovo and Sun Microsystems. In August last year, the system
began its work .
According to the
company's calculations , this spring every 10th page on the Internet posed a potential danger to the user. Therefore, attracting a huge army of users to find each such page looks more than logical. From the very beginning, such a measure was not applied, apparently due to fears of encountering a flood of malicious reports on quite decent sites. Now the accuracy of defining fraudulent pages on the Web, apparently, has increased so much that it is not difficult to cope with this.
